Position Description

Overview

The role's primary focus will be to design from an information perspective, an integration architecture, connecting multiple legacy systems to SAP or other third party software.  Some of the third party software could be delivered via software as a service (SaaS).    The Data Architect, in conjunction with the business and application teams designs the interfaces required to promote a reusable, service based environment. In addition, they will be instrumental in designing methods and governance around a semantic access layer bridging operational, marketing and potentially unstructured data.

Responsibilities:
·         As part of the data architecture team, responsible for the enterprise strategy supporting the information lifecycle.  Experienced in data modeling, data design, data quality and standardization, data security, meta data management, data warehouse design, and data retention policies.
·         In conjunction with other architects, application teams, and business units designs an enterprise integration architecture.  For the data component, provide practical experience and thought leadership into the design of a framework for different integration use cases.
·         Provide technical expertise overseeing the integration architecture.  Hands on experience in different integration techniques, e.g. SOA, ETL, ESB, Data Virtualization / Semantic Layer
·         Promotes data sharing, data consistency, and data quality across Gen Re
·         Supports business units and application teams in the formulation of plans for data cleansing, data quality, and data consolidation
·         Supports strategic data initiatives at Gen Re, provides technical advice based on experience.

Requirements
·    A minimum of 5 or more years of experience in data architecture, including data modeling and design, cleansing and quality, and physical design.
·         A minimum of 5 or more years of experience in software and integration architecture with a variety of technologies as a lead architect or in a consulting role.
·         Experience implementing integration solutions using Oracle's SOA Suite, Oracle Service Bus, Oracle Data Integrator or equivalent technologies
·         Proven ability to translate business initiatives into technological solutions.
·         Proven delivery of significant information architecture projects
·         Proven experience working in large organizations and influencing architectural direction.
·         Excellent communication skills.
·    Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with ability to function at both the conceptual as well as detail levels
·         Must understand enterprise integration patterns and SOA-based integration design principles.   Hands on experience with XML message standard and schemas
