032 Project Manager

Job Description:
The Project Manager (PM) position is a key, strategic position within IT and within the Program/Project Management Office (PMO).  The PM within IT Project Mgmt. team is responsible for ensuring that internal projects are managed with high quality to on-time, on-budget and in-scope completion.  In this capacity he/she works in collaboration with the PMO and business unit sponsors to establish program/project goals, success criteria and risk assessments.  He/she is fully responsible for program, organization of the program/project team and overall success of the effort.  Programs/projects may also be in any area or discipline within IT (e.g. technical infrastructure, information systems and applications, software upgrades).

Specific Accountabilities:
         Champion projects and manage the initiatives successfully through all phases within the given constraints time, budget, scope and quality
         Establish and continuously facilitate appropriate communication amongst the stakeholders and teams
         Define project goals, success criteria and expectations with stakeholders
         Create and manage a realistic and credible project plan including buy-in from all resources involved, business sponsor and PMO; this also includes definition/tailoring of an appropriate project lifecycle
         Negotiate program/project deliverables, milestones and target dates
         Manage the approved funding with the business sponsors and the PMO
         Responsible for appropriate team staffing in a matrix organization
         Establish consistent project risk management and change control
         Responsible for the project meeting IT architectural standards, performance standards, and business continuity and disaster recovery requirements
         Work closely with the support teams, including  Enterprise Application Support and Service Desk, to manage the transition and warranty period
         Monitor and control the project during execution, including regular performance reports

Experience/Skills Required:
         7-10 years IT work experience, including a minimum of 5 years as a Project Manager
         PMP certified NOT required but nice to have.
         Very strong communication, negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills
         Follow a well structured mode of operation, including detailed project planning with the appropriate level of detail
         Proven track record in delivering program/projects on-time, on-budget and in-scope
         Experience in managing projects in a global, matrixed environment with internal (IT and Business) and external (3rd Party Service Provider, on- and off- shore) teams
         Experienced in software development life cycle methodologies and current technology industry best practices.
         Provide a holistic, simple view into program/project performance to stakeholders
         PC, Cloud Computing and/or SaaS Application Knowledge preferred
Additional Experience/Skills Desired:
         Experience in the reinsurance and insurance industry preferred
         Enterprise-level package deployment experience preferred, especially with insurance and reinsurance administration systems
         Working knowledge of package applications including SAP, PeopleSoft, or Documentum

Education Required:
         MBA preferred; Undergraduate or graduate degree in an Information Technology or Management Information Systems discipline or significant, hands-on related work experience will be considered.
